SEATTLE JAIL SITES PUBLIC FORUM ~ July 26, 2008

Residents of the communities near the two proposed city jail sites in West Seattle assembled to tell the city that they would continue to organize against both proposals.

HPAC members have taken a leadership role on this issue. White Center, Riverview, High Point, South Park & Georgetown were also well represented. Several residents of Haller Lake, near the northend proposed jail site, attended in solidarity.

Attendees at 15 tables collaborated in writing their comments to the city, choosing
one or more to speak. Many refused to be constricted to 5 minutes per table.

The city: "We know you don't want a jail—but if there WAS one, what would make it more agreeable to you?" Instead of describing possible mitigating circumstances,
everyone once again listed reasons for opposing the jail.

PRESENTATIONS
