December 1 , 2010 • Report of HPAC holiday get-together

The December event was a neighborly potluck & tree-trimming — not a regular HPAC meeting — with a colorful contribution by Jim & Michelle Glassley and family (photos below).

Announcements:

HPAC ELECTIONS IN JANUARY - CALL FOR CANDIDATES

OFFICERS: At the January 26th meeting, those who attend will elect HPAC officers for 2011: Chair, Vice-chair, Treasurer & Secretary.

Call for candidates! Dan Mullins is stepping down after serving 2 years as Chair. Anyone who wants to step up and make a difference in our comunity can run for that position or the other offices. Contact Dan: chair09@highlandpk.net, or simply come to the January meeting, introduce yourself, and tell us why you would like to serve.

NAME CHANGE: New names will be proposed that better reflect the welcoming, inclusive and neighborly mission of our org. More about that from the September meeting. The name that wins the most votes will then replace "Highland Park Action Committee" for the website, public relations materials, etc. The term "Action Committee" would likely be used as a designation for specific types of activities within the org, such as Outreach.

Please come so you can submit a name and VOTE!!

HOLIDAY DANCE - Saturday DECEMBER 11th, 8PM

HPAC and HP Improvement Club will both sponsor a holiday dance & potluck, featuring local favorites, the Evan & Charlie Brown Duo. ALL ARE WELCOME! BYOB.

NO COVER CHARGE, but guests are asked to donate a potluck dish, an item for the White Center Food Bank and an item for Westside baby, which serves needy children. New toys are accepted, but there is a greater need for kids' clothing, blankets, diapers, and other baby care supplies—or cash.
