COMMUNITY REPORTS
  • NEW MEETING LOCATION - There was a discussion about moving our meeting location to the HPIC facility starting in January. A motion was moved and passed by the members to hold January and February's meetings there and then make the decision of whether it's a positive move from the Elementary. Blair will need to confirm that the dates are available for us to use the facility.
  • SUMMIT MEETING - With our grant we will be holding a Summit meeting sometime in the first few months of 2007. The idea is to bring together neighboring community groups such as Riverview and Highland Park Improvement Club to collectively see what we need as a neighborhood. Look for more information at upcoming meetings.
  • HPAC's NEW WEBSITE - The new domain URL will be http://www.highlandpk.net and is functional. Thank you Dina for all your hard work to get this accomplished. Please check out this site and send the link to anyone who lives in Highland Park.
  • TRIFOLD - Dina has also created an informational tri-fold about Highland Park. It's easy to read, and gives people an idea of what we are about. A definite move in the right direction. She will be posting a PDF link so you can view and print the flyer from the website. http://www.highlandpk.net
This would be a great piece to give anyone new who's moving in to the neighborhood.
  • OUTREACH - Stephanie Kormeier has volunteered to mail our flyer to new residence's in Highland Park. She will be writing an introduction letter to be approved by HPAC members and mail that with the flyer. Thanks Stephanie!!
  • ELECTED OFFICERS - Elections were held and the elected officers for the upcoming year are:
    Chair: Blair Johnson
    Vice Chair: Jim Glassley
    Treasurer: Betsy Harris
    Secretary: Ken Knoke
Term of office runs from January 2007 to December 2007
  • Highland Park Improvement Club is the oldest community club in Seattle. They are hoping to increase attendance and meet the 2nd Wednesday of the month. HPIC wants to re-connect with the community to build membership. Cost is only $7 per year.
UPCOMING EVENTS
  • December 9th, HPIC will be holding a Christmas dance. It will be pot luck and BYOB. You can also bring a gift for a child or teenager to be given to charity. Social hour starts at 5:30, dinner at 6:30. All are invited to attend this event. Check out this fantastic community facility. You can rent this space to host events if you'd like. The address again is 1101 SW Holden.
  • A motion was made and a vote taken and passed on purchasing new signs to promote membership for HPAC. 20 signs will run around $270. Since the signs will have our meeting location on them, we decided to wait on having the signs made until our meeting place is set at either the HPIC facility or the elementary.
  • No meeting in December due to the holiday school closure. See you in January!
POLICE REPORT - Adonis Topacio adonis.topacio@seattle.gov
  • There were no SPD in attendance at November's meeting. With snow conditions being what they were, I'm sure they were in high demand this evening. We hope to see them back in January.
  • A member brought to the attention of the group that a truck carcass has been dumped on 14th and Barton. The truck has no engine but has a license plate number 4725 KT. Most likely this plate doesn't match the vehicle. The bed of the truck was full of garbage. As it was sitting on the street for at least a month, other people added to the garbage by dumping more garbage. This seems to be an ongoing problem.
  • Plants have been removed or taken from the traffic circle at the intersection of 13th and Trenton. This is a traffic circle we have cleaned twice in the past year.

HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY AND A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!
